The genocidal reasoning behind bans on gender-affirming care

Every time another state passes a ban on minors’ access to gender-affirming care into law, we start to hear the same arguments — generally citing suicide rates among trans youth.
Last week was Tennessee and Kentucky. Today, Indiana.
These hit close to home.
After over two decades in southern California, our family is preparing to move to a small town in southern Indiana, 15 minutes north of Louisville. They’ll be settled in by the summer; we’ll join them next year.
And we’re trans.
(A quick aside: a lot has changed since we last posted on Medium. Most notably we’ve realized we’re a Plural system and have started using first-person plural pronouns.)
At our current age of 25, we’re not at risk of losing access to our own hormone replacement therapy when we move, though we’re trying to get our gender-affirming hysterectomy out of the way while still in the Pacific Northwest.
However, we’re very worried about increasingly heated anti-trans national rhetoric. And we’re starting to suspect that some allies don’t understand…
